During a year of COVID-19 uncertainty, the increased demand on Trickbox’s broadcasting facilities has supported company growth. Trickbox TV are excited to announce their continued expansion as seven new people join the team. With an ever-growing Outside Broadcast and Projects arm and in a booming Virtual Events industry, Trickbox undertook a serious recruitment campaign which has increased their capacity for future projects.

Trickbox’s Projects team welcomed a new Project Manager, Jacob Hamilton, who will apply his engineering background to deliver several large new projects for the team. In addition, Trickbox launched a new Virtual Events department overseen by Project Manager Sam Lynam and a dedicated team.

The Virtual Events team boasts three highly skilled technical operators including new recruits, Multi-Skilled Technical Operator, Darryl Kirby and Virtual Events Operator, Peter Lawrence. Additionally, Junior Digital Events Assistant, Mohamed Abdalla, has come on board to manage graphic design and bespoke platform development.

This rapid expansion has been carefully managed to ensure Trickbox production quality is guaranteed, so the core team has also benefited from additions. New Financial Director, Kenneth McCallum, is a welcome source of advice to the whole team and the new Administrator, Molly Brothers, is a true asset to the smooth working of the company.

Despite the uncertainty that the COVID-19 pandemic posed on the industry, Trickbox TV is pleased to be in the position to offer new jobs. They will be facing the challenges of 2021 with an enduring ethic of creativity and professionalism, while welcoming the fresh-perspective each new hire brings.

Announcement shows the company’s continued growth in the live streaming market and its strong technical capability to deliver high-quality video to any platform.

Trickbox TV, a leading supplier of equipment and services for studio and location multi-camera productions for broadcast, video production, webcasting and live events, has acquired the live streaming arm of UK streaming and IT services company, Echo Eight. As well as purchasing the company’s live streaming technology and contracts, Trickbox has also appointed its Director, James O’Farrell as Trickbox TV Head of Live Video.

The acquisition further strengthens Trickbox’s live streaming capability and expands its experienced team. It provides clients with reliable solutions and trusted workflows as the industry continues its shift to emerging IP broadcasts. Kit purchased by Trickbox as part of the acquisition includes multiple LiveU encoders.

Trickbox has recently completed a number of successful live streaming projects. In May, it live streamed a “fake news” PR stunt to celebrate the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Trickbox provided its Tower Bridge TV Studios so that the production team had a  vantage point of a T-Rex used in the stunt, on a boat on the Thames. The studio also provided the team with a hub for the production. Trickbox supplied a LiveU bonded uplink unit, which was positioned on a second boat following the T-Rex, to send the live footage back to the studio via a LiveU server. This meant that the footage could immediately be edited for fast turnaround (and delivered to big screens across London).

Trickbox also recently completed a project for LiveHereNow, a specialist live music record Label/Production company. LiveHereNow required Trickbox to live stream a Q+A of the pop group Steps #PartyAtTheCinema event during a screening of its new DVD, Party On The Dancefloor (filmed in part by Trickbox in November 2017 for Toward Infinity), to a selection of Everyman Cinemas across the UK. The event was a great success.

James O’Farrell says, “I’m really excited to take on this new role at Trickbox and to assist with the company’s continued expansion into the live streaming market. Streaming live video provides a compelling and cost-effective way to reach wider online audiences. This latest project with Everyman is a perfect example,  it opens up a range of possibilities for LiveHereNow and Everyman to stream from any location to cinemas across the UK.”

“We’re delighted to welcome James to the Trickbox team,” adds Liam Laminman, Managing Director, Trickbox TV. “He has a vast experience over a number of years and excellent contacts that will enable us to further expand the business over the coming months.”
